About this role
Commission in-coming, simple biomedical equipment to verify safety and performance against manufacturer's specification, including interpreting engineering information, schematic diagrams, and instructions in the operators' manuals and service manuals.
Start an equipment record (Equipment Master) in the computerized biomedical equipment management system (BEMS), recording in it information about the device as well as the inspection and test results.
Affix the "Commissioning" tag on the equipment after it has been successfully commissioned, and file the manufacturer's operator and service manuals.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) (inspection, servicing and performance verification) on simple biomedical equipment; document the work done and update the Equipment History and the PM schedule in BEMS.
Troubleshoot and correct simple system and equipment malfunctions by making adjustments, alterations, repairs, or parts replacements to ensure that the equipment meets specification.
Make requisitions for replacement parts and accessories needed to complete repair jobs.
Communicate verbally and in writing with equipment users, vendors, and ancillary staff of the Hospital, as needed to facilitate the above duties to be performed.
