Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll accounting experience.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and diplomatic skills; ability to take ownership and responsibility.
- Professionalism in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in verbal and written English and Cantonese; Putonghua is a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment legislation.
- Proficiency in payroll software and tools, with capabilities to process and analyse payroll data; experience with new system implementation is advantageous.
What you'll be doing on the job
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee our payroll processes. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of employee payments in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Human Resources department and other teams to maintain payroll records, prepare and analyze reports, and address any payroll-related inquiries.
Responsibilities:
End-to-End Payroll Processing
- Manage the entire payroll cycle, including the timely execution of regular and off-cycle payrolls, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promptly resolve any payroll discrepancies.
- Calculate payroll adjustments, timesheets, additional pay, and deductions, and allocate insurance premiums.
- Review payroll data and reports to verify pay calculations, deductions, and adjustments, ensuring alignment with payroll inputs and company policies
Income Tax Returns Function
- Maintain accurate records for the preparation of required tax filings and statutory reports, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Manage timely reporting of employer returns, including new hires, terminations, and annual filings.
- Coordinate and verify Rental Reimbursement Claims for income tax reporting, ensuring compliance with IRD regulations.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll and income tax inquiries and issue resolution.
- Support income tax-related workshops for internal stakeholders.
Retirement Scheme
- Collaborate with Human Resources to manage provident fund and pension contributions, ensuring accurate adjustments for new and terminated members. Communicate with trustees regarding monthly contributions.
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Assist with data analytics, audit activities, and management reporting related to payroll.
- Ensure accurate data entry and allocation within the payroll system, with proper reflection in the General Ledger.
Support on Administrative Procedures and Internal Controls
- Stay informed about best practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes in payroll.
- Collaborate with the team to streamline and automate payroll processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
- Recommend improvements in administrative procedures and internal controls regarding payroll, alerting the Accounting Manager or Director of Finance to any issues.
