What requirements you'll need to be eligible
  • Diploma/ Degree in a relevant area OR a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the arts and culture sector;
  • Excellent written and oral communication, including a high degree of written and oral proficiency in English (at least Grade B in GP);
  • Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of the wider South East Asia arts and cultural sectors, including festivals, venues, and local agents and promoters;
  • Proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver arts and cultural projects, including budgets, from concept to execution;
  • High-level interpersonal and networking skills, including the capacity to develop and strengthen links with partner organisations across a large and diverse region;
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-ethnic team across a wide and diverse geographic area;
  • A high level of discretion, commitment, and reliability.
  • Flexibility is required for frequent out-of-hours work, for cultural events.
  • The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in Singapore prior to recruitment.
What you'll be doing on the job

Reporting to the Ambassador in Singapore, this position will enhance the promotion of Irish arts and culture across the South East Asia region under the strategic guidance of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Culture Ireland. The role’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist leadership in Ireland’s cultural engagement throughout South East Asia in line with relevant multi-annual strategies and programmes to promote Irish culture internationally.
  • Working with Culture Ireland to extend and maximise touring opportunities for artists to present work in South East Asia and develop a regional approach to cultural promotion.
  • Managing both external and internal stakeholder engagement through mapping, cultivating, and managing relationships with cultural organisations across the region and brokering partnerships between Irish and South East Asian artists, ensembles, institutions, venues, and festivals, including the Irish artistic and creative diaspora residents in the region.
  • Working with Ireland’s national cultural agencies and relevant state bodies to develop links across the creative industries, e.g. film, architecture, design.
  • Liaising with and supporting the work of Irish cultural organisations, including the Irish Studies community, and fostering links between such entities.
  • Working alongside other European Missions and the EUNIC (EU National Institutes for Culture) network to situate Ireland and Irish culture in its European context.
  • Supporting Culture Ireland as required in the effective delivery of its showcase events, and assisting in the development, delivery, and promotion of cultural events generally on behalf of Culture Ireland, DFA, and other relevant state bodies e.g. Tourism Ireland, including flagship or large-scale initiatives and cultural programmes for high-level visits by the President of Ireland, the Taoiseach or Government Ministers.
  • Under the direction of the relevant Embassy collaborating with our countries of secondary accreditation in the region in the planning and execution of their cultural programmes and promoting opportunities for synergies across South East Asia.
  • Planning, managing and delivering cultural events for Ireland’s missions across the region, including virtual fora, and ensuring that key public diplomacy events (St. Patrick’s Day/St. Brigid’s Day/Samhain) across the region feature strong cultural dimensions.
  • Management of budgets, projects and project teams.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the impact of cultural events across the regions
  • Any other duties as may be required.
